In a recent development, Apple is reportedly working on a 90Hz display technology that could be featured in future versions of the Studio Display, iPad Air, and 24-inch iMac. This new display, featuring a liquid motion panel, is expected to offer smoother visuals and a more responsive user experience.
The first implementation of this technology is anticipated to debut in the M3-powered iPad Air, set to launch in early 2025. Following this, the 24-inch iMac, which recently received an M4 update, may also benefit from the 90Hz display upgrade, although users might have to wait until late 2025 or later.
Apple fans have been eagerly awaiting a refreshed version of the Studio Display, which hasn’t seen a hardware update since its debut in March 2022. While earlier rumors suggested the possibility of a mini-LED display with ProMotion support, those plans were reportedly scrapped. However, the new 90Hz display technology could still mark a significant improvement for these devices.
