Canonical has issued a rallying call to artists, graphic designers, and enthusiasts of Ubuntu worldwide, urging them to participate in the official wallpaper contest for the upcoming Ubuntu 24.04 LTS release, codenamed “Noble Numbat.”
Scheduled for launch on April 25th, 2024, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is set to mark Canonical’s 20th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone and ensure a visually stunning desktop experience, the Ubuntu development team is seeking captivating artwork submissions for the release’s wallpapers.
Interested participants are encouraged to submit their creations for consideration in the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” wallpaper competition. The submission period opens on February 9th and runs until March 4th, with entries accepted via the official Ubuntu Discourse site.
With less than three weeks available, time is of the essence for artists to showcase their work, which will adorn the screens of countless Ubuntu users upon the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in late April 2024.
As customary, only the top 5 submissions will be selected by the Ubuntu Desktop team for inclusion in the Noble Numbat release. The voting phase will commence from March 4th to March 18th, culminating in the announcement of the winning entries.
Prospective contributors must adhere to key rules, including owning the rights to their submissions, utilizing either CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0 licenses, and ensuring images are of 4K quality (3840x2160px) in PNG or WebP format.
This year, the Ubuntu Desktop team has introduced four distinct style categories: Mascot & Theme, Digital & Abstract Art, Nature, and Other, inviting a diverse range of submissions beyond the Noble Numbat-inspired theme.
