Huawei has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated Mate 70 series, set to debut on November 26, 2024. The event will take place in China, with expectations that the phones will also be available globally. The Mate 70 series is expected to include four models: the base Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and the high-end Mate 70 RS Ultimate.
Key Features and Specifications
- HarmonyOS Next: The Mate 70 series will be the first to run natively on Huawei’s proprietary operating system, HarmonyOS Next. This marks a significant departure from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) base, offering a unique user experience.
- HiSilicon Kirin 9100 Chip: The devices are rumored to be powered by the new HiSilicon Kirin 9100 processor, built on a 6nm process node by SMIC. This chip is expected to offer performance comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
- Camera Innovations: The Mate 70 series is expected to retain the iconic circular camera module, housing four camera sensors arranged in a square formation. The camera module might be integrated into a circular or elliptical island, adding a unique visual element.
- Battery and Charging: Following the trend of silicon-carbon batteries offering higher capacities, Huawei may adopt similar technology. The Mate 70 series could feature even larger batteries while maintaining 88W fast charging. The lineup is also expected to support 50W wireless charging and up to 20W reverse wireless charging.
- Design: The Mate 70 Pro model will have three display holes, similar to its predecessor, the Mate 60 Pro. One hole will be reserved for the camera, and the other two for 3D facial scanning technology. The display will be flat with a slightly curved glass on the edges.
- Global Availability: While the launch is confirmed for China, Huawei has hinted at a global release, though specific details and timelines are yet to be confirmed.
The Huawei Mate 70 series is poised to set a new benchmark in the smartphone industry, combining cutting-edge technology with innovative design. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches!
