iOS 17, Apple‘s latest operating system, has been officially released to the public, bringing a plethora of customization options, social features like NameDrop, and intelligence upgrades, including a transformer language model for improved autocorrect.
Following a summer filled with beta testing, the final public version of iOS 17 is now available for compatible devices, enhancing iPhones with new features focusing on health, social interactions, and customization.
While some features like the Apple Journal app are not ready at launch, iOS 17 introduces interactive widgets, allowing widgets placed on the Home Screen to have interactive elements that can start songs, set timers, and perform various tasks without launching an app. Third-party apps can also utilize this feature to provide enhanced app control and functionality.
One notable exclusive feature for iPhone users is StandBy, which activates when the iPhone is charging and mounted in landscape mode, displaying useful information. This feature is particularly useful with always-on displays and works on any iPhone running iOS 17, with specific customizations for MagSafe chargers.
Additionally, iOS 17 introduces social enhancements to FaceTime, iMessage, Contacts, and voicemails, along with improved device customization, such as setting up Contact Posters with full-screen images for incoming calls.
