Despite its independence as a fork from iOS, iPadOS still undergoes development in sync with iOS. The recent arrival of iPadOS 17.4 is in line with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, meeting the March 6 deadline. Notable updates within the operating system primarily align with the modifications introduced in iOS 17.4, with fewer iPad-specific changes.
In response to the Digital Markets Act, Apple implemented extensive adjustments, introducing over 600 new APIs, expanded app analytics, and support for alternative browser engines. These alterations, spanning both iOS and iPadOS, empower third-party developers to distribute applications through alternative marketplaces, liberating them from the confines of Apple’s App Store.
For iPad users, iPadOS 17.4 doesn’t bring substantial changes specific to the device. The updates are predominantly linked to iPhone features, such as enhancements to Stolen Device Protection, Spatial Video Capture, Apple Wallet, CarPlay, and Battery Health.
