The Document Foundation has announced the release of LibreOffice 7.6.4, marking the fourth maintenance update in the latest LibreOffice 7.6 open-source office suite series. This release, following closely on the heels of LibreOffice 7.6.3, addresses a total of 41 bugs and issues reported by users or discovered by the LibreOffice developers. Users are encouraged to review the changelog to gain insights into the specific improvements and fixes introduced in this update.
In tandem with this, The Document Foundation has also rolled out LibreOffice 7.5.9, serving as the final maintenance update in the LibreOffice 7.5 office suite series. It’s worth noting that LibreOffice 7.5 reached its end-of-life status on November 30th, 2023. The 7.5.9 update tackles two bugs, but users are advised to have already transitioned to LibreOffice 7.6 for ongoing support and feature enhancements.
Both LibreOffice 7.6.4 and LibreOffice 7.5.9 are available for download from the official website, offering binaries for DEB or RPM-based GNU/Linux distributions, as well as source tarballs. The DEB and RPM binary installers, curated by The Document Foundation, are designed to function seamlessly on Fedora/RHEL or Debian-based distributions.
The LibreOffice 7.6 series is slated for support until June 12th, 2024, with the next anticipated update, LibreOffice 7.6.5, scheduled for the last week of February 2024. As a reminder, the LibreOffice 7.5 series will no longer receive updates, prompting users to make the transition to LibreOffice 7.6 promptly.
It’s essential to recognize that LibreOffice is the “Community” edition, maintained by dedicated volunteers. For enterprise-level deployments, The Document Foundation recommends considering the LibreOffice Enterprise family of applications, available through ecosystem partners.
