Motorola has scheduled an event for April 16 to introduce the Edge 50 lineup, comprising the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro, expected to make their global debut. While the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, featuring the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, recently launched in India, the brand has released a teaser hinting at the chipset for the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra without confirming the phone’s name. Anticipated upgrades over the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra are expected.
The official teaser for the Motorola Edge 50 series surfaced on X, revealing that Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC will power one of the Edge series devices. Though the specific handset moniker remains undisclosed, it’s evident that the Ultra variant will be equipped with this SoC. Previous leaks and a recent Geekbench listing also align with this chipset’s presence in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra.
Recently, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra appeared on Geekbench, boasting a notable single-core CPU score of 1,947 and a multi-core score of 5,149. The benchmark highlighted a high-performance core clocked at 3.01GHz, four cores at 2.80GHz, and three cores at 2.02GHz, characteristic of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The listing also hinted at 12GB of RAM and the Android 14 OS onboard.
According to leaks, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will sport a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. Expectations point to a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate.
Touted as the most premium offering in the Edge 50 lineup, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra might debut in the US under the moniker Motorola Edge+ 2024 or Edge Ultra 2024, with an estimated price tag of around $999 (approximately Rs. 83,000).
