Elon Musk’s X Platform Transforms into Mega App, Introducing Ad-Free X Premium Tiers. In a move to redefine the social network landscape, Elon Musk’s X platform, formerly known as Twitter, has been undergoing substantial transformations since its acquisition by the billionaire last year.
The vision is to evolve the platform into a mega app, encompassing features like calls and even payments. As part of this evolution, Musk is expanding the X Premium paid service, considering the introduction of different tiers, including one that eliminates all ads.
Formerly branded as Twitter Blue, the X Premium service offers exclusive features to its subscribers, such as app icon customization, an edit posts button, text formatting, longer posts and videos, and access to X Pro (previously TweetDeck). Currently, X Premium subscribers experience fewer ads in their timeline compared to non-paying users. However, Musk is contemplating providing users with the option to remove ads entirely—for a higher subscription fee, naturally.
X Premium will be into 3 Plans:
Premium Basic – Full Ads
Premium Standard – Half Ads
Premium Plus – No Ads
Recent insights by researcher Aaron uncover that the latest version of the X app includes code hinting at the introduction of three new X Premium tiers: Basic, Standard, and Plus. In the Basic tier, users would continue to see ads during their X usage. The Standard tier would reduce ad visibility, and the Plus tier would offer an ad-free experience.
Presently, X Premium is priced at $8 per month or $84 per year. However, subscriptions via the X app on iOS or Android incur a higher cost of $11 per month and $115 per year, respectively, due to the 30% commission from the App Store and Google Play Store.
The pricing details for the new tiers are yet to be unveiled, including the migration plan for current subscribers. Stay tuned for updates as X Premium transforms its offerings to enhance the user experience.
